Fire Department

Welcome to the Sumter Fire Department
The Desire to Serve. The Ability to Perform. The Courage to Act.

Fire Department Hat and American FlagMessage From the Chief
Welcome to the Sumter Fire Department. The Sumter Fire Department is one of the most challenging and interesting places to work or volunteer. It has great rewards of self satisfaction and accomplishment. The career fire-fighter works a twenty-four hour rotation and is off for a forty-eight hour period. The volunteers respond to calls via radio alert and can be called upon at any time an emergency occurs. The Fire Service is an exciting way of life and very rewarding. We encourage you to come down and see what we are all about.
-- Fire Chief - Karl Ford
